The Safe Harbor Fund at Charleston Harbor Veterinarians is a charitable fund established in 2020 to support our clients who have encountered financial hardship and also for the lost, neglected and homeless animals that make their way into our doors.
CHV owners, Dr. Christa and Brent Kahuda, were inspired to launch the Safe Harbor Fund, personally making an opening donation, in response to the unprecedented economic conditions brought upon by the COVID-19 pandemic.
To date, the Safe Harbor Fund has helped provide veterinary care to dozens of pets in our community. Over $9500 has been donated and utilized fully for pets in Charleston. It has helped prevent loving pet parents from being forced to make decisions for their pets future based on finances alone and it has assisted our clinic in providing support to many stray animals that are brought to us with no other options.
If you would like to make a donation to the Safe Harbor Fund, we know there are many deserving pets who will greatly appreciate your generosity, as do we! You can do so at any time in-person or by phone or you might consider rounding up a future invoice at the clinic and putting your change into the fund.
Grants for the Safe Harbor Fund will be determined at the discretion of Charleston Harbor Veterinarian’s owners and team. If you would like to be considered for a grant or would like to nominate a recipient, please contact Brent and Dr. Christa Kahuda.
